We have just provided van PAT testing to a cleaning company with 4 fully equipt service vans. We PAT tested all equipment on the mobile service vans. The equipment PAT tested ranged from industrial wet vacs, industrial pressure washers and extension cables. The service vans cover the whole of Scotland however the PAT testing was carried out in West Lothian where all vans were brought to one central location for the PAT testing to be carried out.
It is sometimes hard for companies operating a fleet of vans with electrical appliances on board to get PAT testing performed. We find that the most cost effective method of carrying out the PAT testing is to arrange for all the vans to meet in one central location and get the PAT tester to carry out all the work on that one day. This is obviously easier for the PAT testing company and more cost effective to the company require the PAT testing. It also give the mobile van guys a chance to meet up and get a catch up therefore better for everyone !
As mobile van guys operate remotely it is hard for the company they work for to keep an eye of the condition of the electrical appliances in there van. Therefore it is really important that they have an up top date pat testing programme in places to ensure the equipment is kept in a safe working condition.
