PAT Test Appliances

Updated: Apr 10, 2019

If you are a Landlord in Edinburgh, West Lothian or anywhere in Scotland and think what items do I need to PAT tested ? We have tried to help by listing examples below.

Example Of Appliances Requiring PAT testing:

White Goods : Washing Machines & Refrigerators etc

Brown Goods: Televisions, computers and radios etc

Small Kitchen Appliances : Kettles, toasters, coffee machine etc

Hand Held : Such as hair dryers and straighteners

Any other appliances that are not permanently fixed to the electrical installation and are (owned by the Landlord).

Don't forget extension leads need to be PAT Tested if owned by the Landlord

Some appliances are powered by extension leads even though this should only be a temporary measure! We have found them at the back of Kitchen appliances. Therefore if it's in the property and not supplied by the tenant it must be PAT Tested !

A PAT test involves both visual inspection of the appliance and a more in-depth check using specialist PAT testing equipment. These tests include earth continuity, insulation test and lead polarity test.

We can PAT test all of the above appliances and provide you with an electronic PAT certificate showing this work has been carried out in accordance with IET code of practice .
