Hair Salon Needing PAT

Updated: Apr 11, 2019

We have just provided PAT Testing to a hair salon in Morningside Edinburgh. Although they get their fuseboard, electric switches and sockets tested every 5 years they had never had their electrical appliances tested before.

We tested items such as hair dryers, straighteners, curlers and electric heaters. These appliances are just as important to check as often and can have damaged cables or wrong fuses fitted. We recommend that these items are tested frequently. No specific time scale is given for these test to be carried out however based on the environment and the way some of these handheld appliances are dropped in the salon perhaps yearly or every second year would be adequate.

Handheld appliances are considered to be one of the highest risk appliances. You also need to check that any appliance provided has at least the CE marking (which is the manufacturer's claim that it meets all the requirements of European law). Non UK plugs with no fuse UK plug converters are not acceptable and are considered unsafe to use.

If you have a Salon in Edinburgh or the Lothians requiring PAT testing give us a call today on 07570 080429 or email
